What is a Heat Pump?
How Does an ASHP Work?
Imagine a refrigerator but in reverse! An ASHP utilises a closed-loop system with four key components:
- Evaporator Coil: This outdoor unit absorbs heat from the outside air, even at low temperatures, thanks to a particular refrigerant.
- Compressor: The refrigerant is then compressed, significantly increasing its temperature.
- Condenser Coil: The heated refrigerant travels indoors, releasing its warmth into the air or a water system for underfloor heating or radiators.
- Expansion Valve: Finally, the refrigerant cools down as it passes through this valve, ready to repeat the cycle and deliver continuous warmth.

Types of ASHPs to Fit Your Needs
At C&K Heating & Renewables, we understand every home is unique. That’s why we offer two main types of ASHPs:
- Air-to-Air Heat Pumps: These systems directly heat the air within your home, providing a cost-effective solution for space heating needs.
- Air-to-Water Heat Pumps: These versatile systems transfer heat to a water-based system, ensuring comfortable space heating and hot water for showers, baths, and taps.

Benefits of ASHPs

Superior Energy Efficiency
ASHPs excel in efficiency, generating up to 3 times more heat than the electricity they consume. Lower your energy bills and enjoy significant cost savings over time.

Sustainable Choice
Be a part of the solution! ASHPs contribute to a more sustainable future by utilising readily available ambient air.

Government Incentives
The UK government offers financial support programs like the BUS Scheme (up to £7,500 off the installation cost) for qualifying ASHP installations. Let our experts guide you through the process.

Reduced Carbon Footprint
By harnessing renewable energy from the air, ASHPs significantly decrease your reliance on fossil fuels, minimising your environmental impact.
